FeaturePreparationApplicationCleaningFeature Johnstone’s Aqua Water Based Gloss is an innovative water based gloss with a high sheen finish, ideal for interior and exterior wood and metal. Specially formulated to give all the application and appearance characteristics of traditional gloss with the added advantage of being quick drying and low odour during application. Johnstone’s Aqua Water Based Gloss should be used in conjunction with Johnstone’s Aqua Water Based Undercoat to give the best possible finish. Applies and finishes more like a solvent based gloss. Quick drying. Low odour. Lesser yellowing than a solvent based gloss Preparation All surfaces to be painted should be clean, dry and free from loose and flaking material. Prime bare surfaces with the appropriate Johnstone’s Primer. Rub down previously gloss painted surfaces with fine waterproof abrasive paper and rinse thoroughly before applying a pre-coat of Johnstone’s Joncryl Water Based Primer Undercoat. Avoid the inhalation of dust. Wear a suitable face mask if dry sanding. Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960’s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead. Seal absorbent surfaces with a coat of Acrylic Eggshell thinned up to 10% with clean water. If more than one can of a colour is to be used in the same area, intermix before use. Do not apply in temperatures below 10°C. Cleaning Remove as much product as possible from application equipment before cleaning. Replace lid firmly. Clean equipment immediately after use with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Some local authorities have special facilities for the disposal of waste coatings. Do not empty product into drains or watercourses.
